I enjoy keeping records; they reveal so much, especially over longer periods of time. Since Sept 2007, Kenya fuel prices per litre have averaged KSh 85.45  (~ 1.13 US$) with a maximum of KSh 108.9  (~ 1.436 US$) and a minimum of KSh 71.9  (~ 0.95 US$). Looks like prices are headed back up, and that means essential [...]

I have been tracking my fuel consumption and came up with this chart (google docs + gadgets) that shows the trend from Sept last year to late April. I will update it with up to date data as soon as I can… Since I don’t fuel daily (of course) the graph may appear spiked at [...]

Egypt III

17May08

I hate the bakshish business. People asking for tips for anything and everything (its rude) – arrrrrrrrgh. The roads are good, but the drivers…. I actually saw traffic lights that were working – but only on my last day. Most places don’t have any. I enjoyed visiting the Giza Pyramids (being a Stargate fan) though [...]

Egypt II

14May08

Looks like its not just Egypt with ‘interesting’ drivers. Look at this Business Daily story on Dubai. Yesterday we nearly hit some dude standing in the middle of a THREE WAY highway with vehicles whizzing past at 100+ Kph. I have not seen traffic lights (I wonder if they would be followed anyway) anywhere yet.

Egypt

The driving can be freaky. I thought Kenyan driving was crazy, but this is overboard. I think I could count the number of cars using indicators. If you have ever played the likes of Lotus II (that old classic) and WRC on Play Station, you might not be out of place driving in Cairo. It [...]

I have not done a blog post for the whole month of December, mainly because I am planning on a whole new platform… But for now, a bit of a rant: My bro came in on a short holiday via KLM (in partnership with KQ and Continental Airlines). Gets to the airport in Nairobi. Waits [...]

Milan – fashion capital of the world. I got to see an alligator skin handbag (handapaga for some people ) from Dolce and Gabbana, for 36 500 euros (yes even KSHS would be rather pricey) Rome – lots of history here. The Pantheon, the Colosseum and the St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City – [...]

SA

Been out of blogging for more than 10 days due to a short trip. I discovered that: one needs a passport to change money in Johannesburg. (not like in Nairobi where you just show up with the foreign currency and get it changed chap chap without commission and sijui nini) Barbecue in Afrikaans means braai [...]

Paris!

20Sep06

I got an opportunity to visit (nearby) paris for a weekend… and was too jazzed by some street skaters:

Almost glad to be away from the cold of Nairobi and in the heat of Europe… I don’t intend to be here though @ winter.. .. I may need to start learning dutch fast.. though everyone i’ve met (so far) seems to speak english as well and french.
