1 year on: His Faithfulness

One year and a few days on, we removed our ‘anniversary’ cake from the depths of the freezer, and let it defrost for about 12 hours

One year has flown and we are grateful to Yahweh for his faithfulness in taking us through it.

This is my desire: to honor You.

(I question myself here – Is my desire to honor Yahweh in everything I do. This is a hard one, yet how many times have I sang this song?)

Lord with all my heart I worship You.

(With ALL MY HEART ? The things I sing, is it true that I worship him with all my heart, not holding back even 0.1% ?)

All I have within me, I give You praise.

(All I have within me – my talents, my gifts, my body, my soul, my mind, my all) – this is a hard one..

All that I adore is in You.

(Yet sometimes my focus is not on Yahweh, but on other things, yet is says ALL I adore – not some of what I adore, or a little bit of what I adore.)

Lord I give You my heart,

I give You my soul, I live for You alone.

(I must add here, I need His help to be able to give the Lord all my heart and soul, not just a wee bit of it, ‘as I see fit’ and to live for Him alone – waaaaaaaaaah how can anyone do that alone?)

Every breath that I take,

Every moment I’m awake,

Lord have Your way in me.

(Every breath? Every Moment? Just thinking of that and the sinfulness of man makes this one very hard thing, really how can I be able to do this on my own?)

This verse today has been very uplifting to me. Psalms 29:11 too

So here are 5 things you didn’t know about me:

1) I used to be a HUGE BABY.. but i’m the tall and slim kind now – trust me – you wouldn’t recognize me apart from my eyes which seem not to have changed since i was a baby.

2) I usually have to buy socks frequently coz my right BIG TOE has this irritating habit of boring holes through my socks and shoes all together

3) I loath routine – I doubt I can last in a job for more than 3 years – call it an over active mind with an odd way of looking at things – actually i doubt i can last in employment for too long.

4) a misplaced sense of financial priorities – buying a PHONE WITH SOME COOL FEATURES is easier than buying a pair of jeans

5) I didn’t get to throw stones at campus coz once upon of a time we got into BIG TROUBLE (we actually managed to stone a mathree coz we had a dome with the driver) with my brother and a friend when we were less than TEN YEARS OLD. Needless to say we got a thorough spanking – never lifted a stone in campus despite going to a campus that got famous for sending a bus to town to throw stones.

Passing Through – My Focus and Priorities?

- I seem to be living in an age where the acquisition of wealth and money seems to be all that preoccupies the daily lives of people around me; where the desire to acquire and control immense amounts of money is the overwhelming driving force for seeking employment.

- Everyone wants.. more salary, more houses, more allowances, more more more more..

Oh and when you get a moderate pay rise this time, very soon after you want more…

I doubt it ever gets enough… as with all material things.

I would like to do lots of things, my primary objective being help other guys achieve their potential, and live happy lives.

It is indeed very difficult to re-orient myself to stop thinking about asking for payrises and instead thinking of ways and means to invest in and improve others. Call it a change of mindset, but as follower of Christ, I feel that’s a life that one has to live. After all I’m just but a traveller in this world. As Anointed put it ‘Life is a Dream, and Heaven’s Reality‘.

Living without thinking about getting more money – easier said than done. But with time I will. Of course this doesn’t mean that I’ll be broke. I might just be on the other side of that spectrum.

What really matters is, when I have all the money that maybe I’d want (an ideal state – like an thermal engine being 100% efficient:) ).. what do I do with it. Do you hoard it up, keeping it close to me, just making more and more and more and more…
or do I do the Acts 2:42-47 thing. After all it’s not like the money will follow me to heaven, for that matter, it’ll look rather dull there.
